 Eurocode 7

Lacasse, S; Nadim, F. (2013): “Probabilistic Geotechnical
Analyses For Offshore Facilities”, International Conference on Case
Histories in Geotechnical Engineering

Brief description:

In the course of the revision of Eurocode 7, a guideline for a (probabilistic) reliability-based verification of limit states according to the safety requirements of the Eurocodes is currently being developed by the SC7 Task Group C3 (TG C3) "Reliability-based methods". As part of this guide, application-oriented examples of reliability-based geotechnical design will be provided. The Chair of Geotechnical Engineering is responsible for this task within TG C3 and has, among other things, developed a questionnaire for this purpose, which, in addition to requesting case studies from practice, was also intended to investigate how probabilistic methods are currently used in geotechnical design, what the advantages are and what the hurdles are in their application. From the results of this survey, recommendations should be derived on how to ensure the applicability of these methods in geotechnical practice and thus the usefulness of this guideline (see also AK 2.15). The practical examples identified in the course of this survey are currently being processed and implemented in an appendix B to the above mentioned guideline.
Furthermore, the Chair of Geotechnical Engineering is represented in WG1 / TGD2 "Spread foundations and piled foundations" and represents the German interests there in coordination with the responsible German committees.
