Brief description:
For a former landfill site with hazardous waste, the stability of the perimeter embankments of several landfill bodies of different structures was to be evaluated as part of a risk assessment. For this purpose, a basic investigation was first carried out, in which available legacy documents were reviewed and evaluated, among other things, on the subsoil conditions, the landfill structure, past construction and expansion measures, and previous stability investigations. Further to this, a subsoil investigation program was designed; the subsequent field investigations and laboratory tests were scientifically accompanied. The actual stability investigations took into account various load scenarios including extreme rain and flood events. In the calculations, the topography of the perimeter dams was implemented from a digital terrain model - created by drone overflight. The representation of water levels and groundwater conditions was taken from hydrological modeling performed by a third party.
