Chair of Water Management Risk Assessment and Climate Impact Research

Dear Visitor

At the Chair of Water Resources Management and Climate Impact Research we cover a variety of advanced topics on water, weather and climate. These are described in more detail here.  For our studies we use the most recent outputs of climate model experiments, that constitute the scientific basis for the IPCC climate report and support policy-making. Due to our involvement with bodies such as the German Federal Office of Hydrology, the German and European Weather forecasting services and the World Meterological Organization, we have our fingers at the pulse of the downstream implications of weahter and climate-related risks and understand the necessary institutional regulatory frameworks.

Using and post-processing large hydrological and climatic data sets inevitably requires some basic affinity with computational tools and methods. If you are interested in joining our group, you are expected to bring along some enthusiasm for apprehending and working with advanced computing languages such as Fortran, C/C++ and Python, which we use for (big) data handling, statistical computing, numerical simulations, artificial intelligence applications and visualization. Modules to apprehend these skills are offered by our partner institutes at the  electrical engineering and computer science department, Faculty of Science and Technology.
